Miles, a co-worker of mine has spent years playing War Craft. He talks about it often. I find it interesting because it is an elaborate and very detailed fake alternate reality. He also likes sports and was explaining this as he flipped through a Sports Illustrated from 1989. His audience was my manager Yuri, and just as I emerged from the staff bathroom into the conversation I heard her remark, "Personally, I'd rather hear about War Craft."
"Yeah me too." I said sitting down at the table in the staffroom for lunch. Yuri departed to the customer service desk.
"War craft just sounds cool." I said honestly. My co-worker Miles flipped a page of Sports Illustrated and dramatically yet dryly replied, "War Craft doesn't just sound cool. It is cool."
"Well you have to keep in mind Miles that War Craft will only ever sound cool to me because I will probably never play it."
"Why not?!"
Why indeed? Why would I never get into a game like War Craft? How could I explain to him that I was unquenchably driven to a career in music? Why not War Craft? "Because," I began, uncertain as to how I was going to 'nut-shell' my life long dream. "Because, I'm playing my own game."
"Oh. What's it called?"
"What's it called. It's called..." What on earth would I call such a game? "It's called...Paying My Bills. and... Being a Singer Songwriter."
He nodded. So did I. "It's very engaging Miles."
